Things to see & do
Some general information about Lake Windermere follows below.
Windermere is the largest Lake in the Lake District. At 10.5 miles (17km) long and up to a mile (1.6km) wide, it offers spectacular scenery with stunning landscapes. There's no better way to enjoy it than on the Lake itself!
At the northern end of the Lake there is the beautiful village of Ambleside. From the village centre there are some really good walks to enjoy, including the stunning waterfalls at Stock Ghyll Force which is well worth the effort!
There's also a wide selection of shops including local confectionary (plenty of Kendal Mint Cake of course!), specialist camping/ climbing/ walking shops and lots of lovely cafe's, bars and eateries to suit all tastes.
Wateredge Inn situated at the northern tip of Lake Windermere just outside Ambleside offers a beautiful country inn setting for holidaymakers, diners, walkers, tourists, and more with unrivalled views of Lake Windermere. Wateredge Inn has its own private jetty and (subject to prior approval and arrangement) we may be able to drop you off and/ or collect you from the Wateredge jetty - or it may be possible to arrange to just stop off for a drink here. If you would like us to see if we can arrange this for you, please contact us for more information.
At the southern end of the Lake you'll find delights such as Fell Foot Park (National Trust - eastern shore) and the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway over on the western shore and adjacent to the Lakes Aquarium.
In addition to all this whilst you're enjoying this wonderful part of the world, you can now enjoy cruising the beautiful Lake Windermere from the luxury of a skippered motor cruiser! Prices start from only £225 for a private experience for up to 6 (potentially 9) people - you and your partner, family, friends, colleagues.
We have a number of options such as Lake Tours which take in around half the Lake heading North or South, and a Luxury Cruise Package taking in the whole Lake. We are also happy to look at tailoring the experience to exactly match your requirements and/ or budget - please contact us to discuss and we'll do our best for you.
All options include a selection of nibbles/ snacks and soft drinks. If you'd like something more substantial then you're welcome to bring aboard your own catering - alternatively you could upgrade to Afternoon Tea at Storrs Hall, or outside catering from The Boathouse at Windermere Marina Village.
