Windermere is the largest Lake in the Lake District. At 10.5 miles (17km) long and up to a mile (1.6km) wide, it offers spectacular scenery with stunning landscapes. There's no better way to enjoy it than on the Lake itself.
At the northern end of the Lake there is the beautiful village of Ambleside. From the village centre there are some really good walks to enjoy, including the stunning waterfalls at Stock Ghyll Force which is well worth the effort!
There's also a wide selection of shops including local confectionary (plenty of Kendal Mint Cake of course!), specialist camping/ climbing/ walking shops and lots of lovely cafes, bars and eateries to suit all tastes.
Wateredge Inn situated at the northern tip of Lake Windermere just outside Ambleside offers a beautiful country inn setting for holidaymakers, diners, walkers, tourists, and more with unrivalled views of Lake Windermere.
Wateredge Inn has its own private jetty and (subject to prior approval and arrangement) we may be able to drop you off and/ or collect you from the Wateredge jetty - or it may be possible to arrange to just stop off for a drink here.

At the southern end of the Lake you'll find delights such as Fell Foot Park (National Trust - eastern shore) and the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway over on the western shore and adjacent to the Lakes Aquarium.
This area is known as Lakeside, and Newby Bridge is nearby. You can enjoy food & drink at the Swan Hotel or Lakeside Hotel, and there's plenty of walks and other places of interest nearby.
